Where I record notes about my first KB workout

My only complaint with kettlebell resources is that I cannot find anything that tells me what I should do as a beginner in terms of a routine. How much is too much? How much is not enough? Anyway, here is what I came up with:

10 swings each arm
5 clean each
5 clean and press each
12 snatch each
7 swings each

I rested in between for 30 sec- 1 minute. I was going to do more swings at the end, but I felt I was losing my form, so I cut it short. Looking at it written down makes me feel like the weakling of the universe, but that's what i could do today. Felt good.

Got to get the kids ready to go....

Christine, What your beginning routine looks like depends on what your goals are. What do you want to accomplish?

Swinging will give you most of what I think you want, which is to lose fat and get incredibly "toned".

There are 4 different swing moves that can keep you busy for quite a while, they are;

1 hand swing, L and R (2 moves)
2 hand swing
transfer (from L to R)

I personally think that building up your endurance to be able to do one kind or a combination of (my style) swings 20-40 reps before you concern yourself with clean, press or snatches will prepare you to get more out of those other moves, JMO.

I know your bells are too light (for swings, especially 2 hands) so doing the other moves is much easier. I do consider cleans, presses done properly to be an intermediate move, but I don't know your complete athletic background.

Anyway, you have my phone # if you have any questions. My e-mail is tracyrif@yahoo.com

Thanks for the feedback! Even reading the book and watching the dvd, I feel like we're doing this somewhat blind, without someone experienced to critique how we're doing, and how much, as well as which exercises. As far as my athletic background, the last time I was in truly good, top physical condition was 8 years ago. I was not only thinner, I was all muscle. That's a story for another post!

I will definitely be calling you, I want to pick your brain -and yes, losing fat is my #1 priority right now!

What is this "snatch" you speak of?
