ow

I have had back problems off and on since I was pregnant with Henry. It comes and goes, but I haven't had a really bad episode in about 4 years.

My back started in on our trip to Mississippi. The car ride was hell, and sleeping on the crappy air mattress at my in-laws didn't help. It got steadily worse after we got back, but I ignored it, thinking it would get better if I just kept exercising.

So, I get up today feeling worse than usual. As I was making Henry's bed, leaning over, I felt something sort of snap, and a lightening bolt of white-hot pain go shooting down my left leg. It brought tears to my eyes, and I really couldn't move for a minute. I was laid up the rest of the day, went to the doctor this afternoon, who says he'd stake his life on this being a herniated disk. I'll go for an MRI next week. I had another spasm at the doctor's office, and he had to literally lift me up off the table to stand up. I'm on vicodin now, so I can at least sit here for a minute to blog an update.

I'm so frustrated. I feel like it's always something... I start to make progress with a good exercise routine, and something comes along to fuck it all up. By the time I let this heal, I will be back to square one with kettlebells. It chaps my ass. I don't have much else to say. I'm very bitter right now.

i have had that exact pain. Have you ever tried to go to a chiropractor? I know people think its hooey, but I swear it has worked for me, and I've had back probs since I was a teenager.

I'm a little leery of chiropractors. Right now, I have to get this healed. I took a walk this morning - my back hurts less if I'm upright - and I'm going to go for a swim this afternoon. I can't just lay around, it's killing me.

ugh, that is awful! My friend Sara has had something similar for about 8 months now. She has to load up on ibuprofen for car rides. She has been going to physical therapy and it helps...

I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks! I went for a swim yesterday, and it felt really good - being weightless in the water=no pressure on the back. And I loves me some vicodin. It's my little friend!
